West Bromwich Albion have dismissed Alan Irvine as
their manager with immediate effect following a poor run of results.
Irvine succeeded Steve Clark in the summer on a
12-month contract.
The Midland club say it is a matter of “regret but
necessity” to part ways with Irvine, who has only managed four wins out of
seventeen matches, having lost seven of their last nine Premier League matches.
They hope to name a new manager by the weekend.
Backroom Coaches Rob Kelly and Keith Downing will be
in charge of the side’s New Year’s Day’s trip to West Ham.

Albion’s Technical Director Terry Burton said: “Alan
has impressed everyone with his manner, dedication and diligence but he knows
that results have simply not been good enough.
“We place on record our gratitude for his efforts
and hold nothing but good wishes for his future endeavours. This was a decision
taken with regret but sadly driven by necessity.”
Ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood and former
Crystal Palace bosses Tony Pulis and Neil Warnock are favourite for the new
Albion role, with former Porto boss Victor Pereira, former Albion player Martin
Jol and MK Dons manager Karl Robinson also linked with the vacant role.
